Ember's Take on Creative Storytelling

This blog offers a glimpse into Ember’s unique approach to storytelling, bringing it to life through reflections and learnings from our work with community-based mental health organisations: you can read or download the full piece here.

Across the world, community-based mental health initiatives (CBMHIs) are already doing deeply transformative work: grounded in lived experience, trust, and care. Yet their stories often remain unheard.

As we’ve seen through our partnerships, these organisations do not lack stories; they lack the time, resources, and infrastructure to share them.

At Ember, we see storytelling not as an add-on, but as a strategic and integral part of the mentorship pacakge that we offer- one that can strengthen identity, unlock funding, and build long-term visibility.

Through a co-creative approach, we work alongside partner innovators to surface what is already there, creating space for reflection, expression, and ownership.

This process is not just about producing outputs like films or visual assets. It is about building confidence, clarity, and the ability for organisations to articulate their work in their own languages, contexts, and creative forms.

When storytelling is prioritised, its impact compounds over time: more people understand the work, more partnerships emerge, and communities feel seen and represented. If we want better evidence, better outcomes, better innovation, we must invest in the very tools that makes them possible.
